Conference Worry
Sunday, February 11, 2007
I'm participating in my first conference ever.
And I'm not reading my fiction or poetry. I'm actually pontificating on women, manga and the oscillation of female identification in the act of reading.
I'm thinking of incorporating Adrienne Rich's
Compulsory Heterosexuality and Lesbian Existence into my analysis of Kiriko Nananan's
Blue. I think the characters are definitely enacting a code of acceptable sexual behavior by the end, in the rejection of the lesbian existence and lesbian continuum which is what Rich would define as compulsory heterosexuality.
Hmmm... I need to spend some quality time with this paper.
